Saturday was a great day for a ride
Nov 2, 2003
Saturday was a great day for a ride- sunny, blue sky, unseasonably warm. I, of course, had already booked my time and had to take whatever came with Sunday. I traded sunshine and 74 degrees for pissing rain and 53. Due to the weather, I took a short ride through a familiar part of Duchess county: up 9G to Red Hook, East on 199 to Pine Plains, South on 82 to 44 and back to Poughkeepsie. It was nice to get out and put another ninety miles on the Honda. The Roadcrafter suit kept me dry but my full gauntlet gloves were soaked and my hands cold by the time I got back.

It was probably the last ride of the season. I refilled the tank, added a few ounces of Stabil gas treatment and ran it until the bad smelling smoke came out. That should protect the carbs and tank through winter. Later this month I have a Saturday planned and I’ll do a proper clean up, an oil change and scrub and lube the chain. If I’m feeling really ambitious, I’ll change the brake fluid but I might hold off until I get a replacement brake line and an adjustable lever.
