Adirondacks
Jun 30, 2008We’ve vacationed in the Adirondacks and the Poconos several times over the years but this was the first time since Nate was born. Maria doesn’t camp. She is one of those people who has never once said, “Let’s go back to the great outdoors,” she is far more likely to say “Let’s go back to the hotel.” I’m good with this. My camping experience is very limited but adequate- floating a leaky borrowed tent for two days of downpours that cleared when we broke camp to leave, underestimating the late Fall weather in the Catskills and pitching a three season tent in wet snows, feeding the black flies- but I tolerate it. Our expectations were permanently skewed after a week in an Adirondack chalet on Schroon Lake named “Amazing Grace” that was several steps above the usual bungalow with chipped paint and screens that kept the mosquitos in rather than out. Aside, I see Amazing Graceis for sale but apparently still <a href="http://hutz.com/vacation/36689/%22Amazing-Grace%22-Nestled-on-the-Shoreline-of-Schroon-Lake!-(%2319)/Horicon/NY?query_uuid=92f6dfe6-e4be-0251-a919-82a9d19a215a>for rent.
