Found some old photos and this
Nov 13, 2022I found some old photos and among them is the only copy I have of a piece of digital art I created circa 1990 or 1991. I remember how I composed it on the Mac IIfx in Bill Hubschmitt’s Fine Arts lab using Photoshop (version 1?!) and scans of a journal article on a pre-Columbian excavation site and the back a RasterOps card. I created the background from scribbling and rendering a “cloud” and a hexdump of Lightspeed Think C both run through multiple filters. I output it late one night on, I think, a Kodak 35mm film renderer. It was always late at night because even the vibration of walking past the renderer would result in a blurred image. I have an 88MB Syquest disk somewhere with the original file. It’s comically bad but it’s also really early digital art.
