Interesting bit of junk mail

2011-05-09 , ,

I received an anti-school tax mailing today with no identifier other than the U.S.P.S. permit information “PRSRT. STD. Permit #370, Albany, NY”. A few minutes of searching turns up that this permit also appears on publications by:

and many others.

I wonder what the connection is? Are they using the same bulk mailing company?

I suppose we can ask them. Don’t image they will disclose their client.

Excellent, but yes, it’s unlikely they’re going to reveal it.

The Times Union put it together: Charter affiliated group behind sneak attacks on Albany school budget

From the article:

A postal record lists the customer who paid for the mailings as “School Performance.” Tom Carroll, who founded the Brighter Choice Foundation — which supports all of the city’s 11 charter schools — is on the board of School Performance Inc., according to the most recent public records available. Chris Bender, executive director of Brighter Choice, is also on the board of School Performance.

Nasty bit of politics going on here.
